Welcome to the unlockata wiki.

unlockata is a Linux utility for managing ATA Security on ATA drives.

Operations

• Locking a drive - Set an ATA Security password and lock a drive.
• Unlocking & Disabling ATA Lock - Unlock an ATA-locked drive or disable ATA Security.
• Freezing ATA Security - Freeze the ATA Security configuration until the next reboot or power cycle.
• Preparing & Erasing a Drive - Prepare and perform an ATA Security Erase.

Warning

ATA Security operations can make a drive inaccessible or permanently destroy its data.

Make sure you understand the operation before running it, and keep your passwords and backups safe.
