A continuous open-source hackathon for privacy-preserving applications beyond payments.

Early community experiment. Volunteer, unfunded, independent. Not affiliated with ZF, ZCG, Shielded Labs, or ZOLD. Published to gather feedback, open a Discussion if you have one.
Zcash has strong privacy primitives and a thin layer of working applications beyond private payments. ZAL runs 2 to 4 week open-source sprints that ship prototypes, writeups, and demos under Apache 2.0. Ideas in, code out.
- Verifiable Credentials & Identity. NFC passports, diplomas, KYC proofs with selective disclosure.
- Private Credit & Underwriting. Credit history, scoring, lending with shielded counterparties.
- Regulated Privacy & Selective Disclosure. View keys, auditor keys, compliance-ready privacy.
- Institutional Settlement & Proof of Reserve. Treasury ops, PoR, private settlement.
- RWA Attestations. Tokenized real-world asset attestations with privacy defaults.
- Private Voting & DAO Governance. Shielded voting, delegation, quadratic funding.
- ZK Audits & Privacy-Preserving Analytics. Audit trails and confidential reporting.
What gets built is whatever the community proposes. Browse open issues or add your own.
- Drop an idea if it is still rough, or propose a sprint if you are ready to lead one.
- A maintainer reads it, asks clarifying questions, and decides using the three questions in the rubric.
- Accepted sprints get their own repo, a reviewer, and 2 to 4 weeks to ship code + writeup + demo.
- What the author does with the artifact after that is up to them.
No gatekeeping. Propose or lead a sprint, review code, mentor, or just leave feedback in a Discussion. One PR or ten sprints, both fine.
