Focus and task behaviour

• Cursor focus when switching notes
  When switching between notes, the cursor focus moves to the sidebar instead of returning automatically to the editor. It would be preferable if the editor regained focus and the cursor was placed in the note in the position where it was left.
• Changing task state from [/]
  After marking a task as "in progress" using the [/] syntax, clicking on the task does not change its state. It would be useful if tasks with all supported states ([ ], [x], [/], etc.) could be cycled through consistently by clicking.

Both fixed, landing in 2.30.0.

Focus. You were right, and it was only the mouse: every keyboard way of opening a note (quick open, Enter on a sidebar row, gt) already hands the keyboard to the editor, but a sidebar or note-list click left focus sitting on the clicked row. Clicks now do the same hand-off as everything else. The second half of your ask turned out to already exist: ZenNotes remembers the cursor position per note within a session and restores it, you just never saw it because the keyboard was not in the editor. So after this fix, click a note and type: you are in the note, at the spot where you left off.

The [/] box. The half-filled box was a drawing with no button behind it, in the editor and in the reading view both. It is now a real checkbox on both surfaces, and clicking it marks the task done, the same [/] to [x] the toggle command already performs. Two related bugs got fixed with it: dragging an in-progress card between Kanban columns used to silently erase the /, and the zn CLI / MCP task toggle collapsed [/] (and even [-]/[>]) back to open. All the toggles now follow one rule: open and done flip, in-progress checks off, forwarded and cancelled are left alone.

On cycling through every state by click: I went the other way deliberately. A checkbox shape promises "click to complete", and a full cycle would make the most common action take several clicks, with misclicks landing you in states you did not want. The state setters stay explicit: i for in progress, c for cancel, > to forward, and the right-click menu carries all of them on every task surface. That said, if after living with this you still want a quicker path from done back to in progress, comment here and I will look at it.

Thanks for the report, the focus one especially had been quietly wrong for a long time.
