Aethery v0.5.0

Aethery v0.5.0 adds fast controls from Quick Settings, improves connection visibility, and fixes stale VPN state after tunnel exit.

In this release

• Added Android Quick Settings tile for connect/disconnect without opening app.
• Tile uses last saved connection settings.
• Tile shows active/inactive connection state with Aethery app icon.
• Improved foreground notification with labeled Download and Upload totals.
• Tapping notification now opens Aethery.
• Fixed UI state staying Connected after native VPN tunnel exits.
• Added native tunnel exit reason to connection logs.

Quick Settings

Pull notification shade down twice, tap Edit, then add Aethery tile.
Tap tile to connect with last saved settings. Tap again to disconnect.
VPN permission may appear on first connection.

Connection status

Aethery now updates app UI and Quick Settings tile when native tunnel stops.
Open Logs after unexpected disconnect. Look for Native tunnel exited: … to find core exit reason.

Before connecting

Start with MASQUE, HTTP/3, and Cache & refresh.

Choose Ironclad from Scanner options when stronger gateway verification is needed. Choose Proxy when only selected apps should use Aethery’s local SOCKS5 listener.

Updating

Use Check for updates in Settings to install compatible releases directly from Aethery.

Built on Aether

Aethery is Android client layer. Discovery, encrypted transport, MASQUE, WireGuard, and route handling live in Aether core.
