A collaborative character creation preset that helps you build original characters for roleplay, fiction, and interactive storytelling.
Stab's Lab is your character creation partner — not a form-filler, but an active collaborator that:
- Asks targeted questions to surface what you haven't articulated yet
- Offers suggestions and alternatives to expand your thinking
- Hydrates partial ideas into fuller contexts
- Tracks progress and flags unresolved elements before moving forward
You remain the director. All creative decisions belong to you — the preset helps you make informed choices.
- Go to Chat Completion Presets tab (sliders icon) in SillyTavern
- Click Import (paper with arrow) and select
Stab's Lab v1.0.json - Open a new conversation with any card (or create a blank one)
- Say hi — the assistant will guide you from there
Different creative processes work for different minds. Stab's Lab offers several ways to start:
| If you have... | Start with... |
|---|---|
| A visual/image of a person | Appearance-First — build from physical presence |
| A sense of how they act | Behavior-First — start with patterns, reverse-engineer psychology |
| A scene or premise | Scenario-First — discover who exists in that context |
| A vibe or archetype | Psychology-First — start with wants, fears, contradictions |
| "Just want something fast" | Quick-Build — 5-7 questions, working card in minutes |
When complete, you'll receive properly formatted character card sections ready to copy into SillyTavern:
- Personality/Description — woven prose with behavioral patterns and friction
- Scenario — structural tension and world rules
- First Message — scene-setting hook for roleplay
Built on principles from Lajos Egri's character framework (The Art of Dramatic Writing), with inspiration from:
