netchecker-server

Basic network checker service to check DNS and connectivity in kubernetes cluster. Should be used together with [netchecker-agent] (https://github.com/adidenko/netchecker-agent).

Service listens on 8081 port (31081 nodePort) and accepts updates from agents. You can use simple curl to get status (see below).

How to

• Quick install server and agents to the kube-system namespace and store manifests to the /etc/kubernetes dir:

# KUBE_DIR=/etc/kubernetes bash utils/deploy_netchecker.sh kube-system

With a custom namespace, node port, report interval and chown manifests for the kube user:

# NODE_PORT=31082 KUBE_DIR=/etc/kubernetes KUBE_USER=kube bash \
  utils/deploy_netchecker.sh default

Purge application:

# PURGE=true KUBE_DIR=/etc/kubernetes bash \
  utils/deploy_netchecker.sh default

• Build server and push container:

docker build -t 127.0.0.1:31500/netchecker/server:latest .
docker push 127.0.0.1:31500/netchecker/server:latest

• Run netchecker server pod:

kubectl create -f k8s_resources/netchecker-server_pod.yaml

• Run service:

kubectl create -f k8s_resources/netchecker-server_svc.yaml

• Check check reports from the agents:

curl -s localhost:31081/api/v1/agents/

• Check connectivity between the agents and the server:

curl localhost:31081/api/v1/connectivity_check

or with utils and a custom node port:

NODE_PORT=31082 bash utils/wait_and_check.sh
