Project Tabletop 1.3.1

This maintenance release improves object and marker tracking, restores unresponsive controls, and prevents unwanted search spotlights.

Fixes

  • Photo Copy: a thin optical fringe around an illuminated object no longer repeatedly releases and reacquires its light. The detector allows a bounded two-pixel fringe in its rectified analysis image while retaining the original body, edge, movement, removal and nearby-object checks. Captured outlines, holes, transparency and image colours are unchanged.
  • Football: improved double-bar detection when a marker trained in brighter conditions blends into dark turf or sits near white goal markings. The fallback retains the learned geometry and projected-artwork safeguards; stale-input timeouts are unchanged.
  • Globe: intact navigation-arrow lettering clears stale hold evidence, allowing the visible buttons to respond without first hiding and restoring them with a swipe.
  • Shared search spotlights: disabled captions cannot trigger a search light. This prevents controls disabled during Roulette's wheel animation from causing unwanted illumination, while active controls retain normal hand acquisition.
  • Blackjack: EXIT accepts a deliberate caption hold when the reaching arm also crosses the lower betting controls. The crossed wager controls remain inactive until released.

Download and install

Download ProjectTabletop-1.3.1-win-x64-setup.exe from the release assets. It targets Windows 11 x64 and includes .NET, the Windows App SDK, native dependencies, hand models, artwork and sounds. Setup installs for the current account without administrator rights. Updates preserve settings, saved games, learned marker profiles and exported pictures.

The installer is unsigned. SHA256SUMS.txt contains the asset hashes, and the JSON payload manifest identifies the source commit and packaged files. The source archives are separate from the installer. See the installation guide and 1.3.0 feature notes.

Validation and limits

The release source passed 688 offline tests with no skips.

The Photo Copy correction passed eight focused offline test groups, the full object-regression console suite and four native application checks covering actions, gestures, the drawer and acquisition. Debug and Release builds completed without warnings or errors. Recorded-camera replay retained all 31 illuminated-card frames and rejected all 22 removed-card frames. The user confirmed that the corrected live build keeps the light steady on the card and turns it off after removal. Movement, nearby objects, washed-out objects and real holes are covered by the regression checks.

The updated Football tracking was reported approximately 99% reliable in the development-tabletop movement check. Blackjack EXIT passed its live check without changing the wager. Roulette's corrected spinning-wheel behavior is covered by native checks; its physical retest remains pending. These results apply to the tested setup; lighting, camera and projector differences can still require adjustment.

The Windows pipeline runs the full offline suite and verifies installer creation, installation, startup, board navigation, GPU preview rendering, shutdown and uninstall before publication. Hosted packaging checks do not replace physical camera/projector acceptance. Remaining validation limits are recorded in the README.

Project Tabletop 1.3.0

Stryker's Run joins the tabletop, Globe becomes a detailed NASA Earth-and-stars explorer, and guided marker setup brings the same double-bar controller to Football, Water Garden and Paint.

Download and install

Download ProjectTabletop-1.3.0-win-x64-setup.exe from the release assets. It targets Windows 11 x64 and includes .NET, the Windows App SDK, native C++ dependencies, hand models, artwork and sounds. Setup installs for your account without administrator rights and creates a Start menu shortcut. Updates preserve settings, saved games, learned profiles and exported pictures.

The setup is unsigned; Windows may display an unknown-publisher warning. SHA256SUMS.txt records the asset hashes, and the JSON manifest identifies the source commit and packaged files. The source archives are separate from the Windows installer. The optional local-control MCP executable is included in the ControlMcp subfolder. See the installation guide.

Stryker's Run

  • A five-level arcade campaign with automatic fire, squad-recruiting gates, escalating enemies, a Bulwark ally and five distinct bosses.
  • Steer with the dotted control strip. Lifting your hand pauses the action and reveals EXIT buttons beside the strip.
  • A devastated city scrolls behind the road in parallax, while Stryker's scarf trails opposite his movement.
  • Animated barrel throws and flames, lightning clouds, electric spiders and returning lightning attacks. Defeated spiders leave glowing, smoking craters that scroll away with the road after the battle.

Globe

  • A 16,384 × 8,192 NASA Deep Star Map surrounds Earth as a slowly rotating celestial sphere, with a detailed Milky Way, natural stars and occasional shooting stars. The sky rotates at 0.03 degrees per second without regional dimming.
  • Smoother Earth surface details, silhouette and blue atmosphere, with the star rendering preserved.
  • Dotted ZOOM and PITCH bars provide continuous control. Their rounded black surrounds, labels and white value pointers stay with the drawer and swipe visibility.
  • MODEL toggles CLOUDS, NO CLOUDS and NIGHT. Models load on demand, releasing the previous Earth textures instead of retaining all three. The expanded choices survive closing and reopening the drawer or hiding and restoring controls.
  • Reaching across MODEL or SAVE to a model choice cancels the lower holds. SAVE exports only Earth and stars, at the current view and animation time, as a PNG with a 3840-pixel long edge in local Pictures\Globe. It confirms Saved to Pictures folder and waits until model loading finishes before becoming available.

Markers, Football and Water Garden

  • Guided double-bar setup appears automatically on first use when a required profile is missing. It checks stationary positions, movement in both directions and the clear board before SAVE MARKER becomes available. Setup can also be opened from SETUP → BOARD CONTROL.
  • Water Garden and Paint share their camera-specific marker profile; Football keeps separate profiles for each player. Improved detection tolerates uneven illumination, partly shaded gaps and brief partial visibility while still rejecting projected scenery.
  • Football keeps the crowd silent during training. Long rallies introduce multiball, reaching seven balls before a goal resets the kickoff.
  • Water Garden gains refined water, immersed rocks, sand writing and fountain/wand audio. Rendering work is reused and bounded to improve animation without changing input behavior; the physical-tabletop comparison was reported smoother with controls working.

Paint and shared controls

  • Paint uses the double bars as its painting input: ink trails behind movement and continues dropping while the marker is stationary. Bare hands no longer paint.
  • A compact arrow drawer contains EXIT, RESET and SAVE. Paint edges are thinner and less dark to help marker visibility. SAVE exports without controls and displays Saved to Pictures folder.
  • Image exports now go directly into local Pictures\Paint, Pictures\Photo Copy or Pictures\Globe, even when the Windows Pictures library is redirected. Existing files are not moved.
  • Long-press captions consistently use uppercase Segoe UI Semibold. Shared holds require broken lettering, and intact letters clear progress. Layered navigation arrows, improved grouped-finger acquisition and more tolerant directional swipes improve control access.
  • Swiping either way toggles controls on supported boards. Roulette intentionally keeps its footer visible; reaching onto its betting area disengages footer holds until the obstruction clears. Rounded spotlight protection removes the former black square corners.
  • Blackjack's four betting coins and EXIT use long presses. Roulette's chip layout is easier to reach, and returning from a game restores its menu page. Crown & Deed has a smaller copper EXIT GAME below START GAME on its opening table.
  • Projected Settings explains that licenses open in the main app window; the unnecessary Open selected file action is removed.

Camera and runtime

  • Automatic Default and Dark scene picture profiles preserve compatible per-camera settings and reduce Globe contrast to retain faint detail, restoring Default elsewhere. Shutter, ISO, white balance and capture rate are unchanged.
  • Independent input workers and reusable camera buffers avoid stale frame queues. Only one app instance may run, with a camera lease held until capture stops. Camera failures pause input rather than repeatedly restarting the device.
  • The laptop's projection preview can be switched off while projection and input continue. The release uses the stable .NET 10 SDK 10.0.402; no beta SDK is required.

Validation and limits

The release source passed 668 offline tests with no skips. The final Globe MODEL/SAVE correction also passed 80 focused tests and seven rendered-control checks. In the subsequent physical test, the user confirmed that NO CLOUDS and NIGHT both load, the choices remain open, and reaching across SAVE does not cause an accidental save. Other live checks confirmed the zoom/pitch bars, drawer restoration, menu arrows, Blackjack holds, Roulette reach behavior, Football marker movement and smoother Water Garden animation.

The Windows release pipeline separately builds and tests the source, assembles the installer, and checks installation, startup, navigation, a GPU preview, shutdown and uninstall before publishing. These packaging checks do not substitute for camera/projector acceptance. Physical checks use the development tabletop; other cameras, lighting conditions and projector setups can still need adjustment. Water Garden's added movement-training stage, Paint RESET and stationary pouring, and tracking across every painted boundary still need their own physical acceptance checks. The README retains the detailed verification history and limitations.

Project Tabletop 1.2.0

Football joins Project Tabletop: a lively projected game for two people or one player against the computer, with car-front kickers, a bouncy football and a stadium crowd.

Download and install

Download ProjectTabletop-1.2.0-win-x64-setup.exe from the assets below. It targets Windows 11 x64 and includes .NET, the Windows App SDK, native C++ dependencies, hand models, artwork and sounds. Setup installs for your account without administrator rights and creates a Start menu shortcut. Updating preserves existing settings, learned markers, saved games and exported pictures.

The setup is unsigned; Windows may display an unknown-publisher warning. SHA256SUMS.txt records the release asset hashes, and the JSON manifest identifies the source commit and installed payload. Source archives are separate from the Windows installer. The optional local-control MCP executable is included in the ControlMcp subfolder.

Football

  • Play against the computer or another person. Learn a printed black bar or double-bar marker for each human player, or use an index fingertip. The car follows the marker's movement and rotation, facing the opposing half.
  • Red and blue striped car fronts, a detailed grass pitch, goal nets and cast shadows. The rotating football has lively rebounds, airborne movement and a maximum speed that keeps play manageable. Glancing hits affect direction and spin.
  • The first player to score five goals wins. Red, white, blue and gold confetti showers the winner's half and car, then settles on the pitch.
  • Open the board, choose the player mode and hold PLAY to begin. Controls stay hidden during play. Remove a player's marker to reveal RESET for a fresh match; returning the marker without resetting resumes the existing match through a countdown. PLAY returns after the victory confetti settles.
  • More resilient double-bar tracking during forward shots, rotation and brief obstruction. Short tracking gaps quietly hold the ball and computer while input recovers, preserving the rally.
  • Stadium ambience, referee whistles, a distinct goal cheer for each side, quieter recurring chants and a victory celebration. Goal cheers use separate audio channels so close-together goals can overlap. Audio follows Enable Audio on Display Device and plays through the selected projector's speakers.

Football is on the first menu page; Photo Copy is on the second page with Roulette and Paint. The Football guide explains marker learning and controls. The reference double-bar marker was printed in Arial Black at 250 pt.

Camera and interaction

  • Choose 30, 60 or 100 fps per webcam. The app uses a supported capture mode and displays the actual negotiated resolution and rate when the requested rate is unavailable.
  • Board setup estimates camera latency from the projected alignment spots. Enter your projector's latency on the laptop to adjust the estimate; the measurement stays on the laptop UI.
  • Shared input scheduling keeps camera processing focused on fresh frames, with improved capture fallback and recovery handling.
  • Water Garden's stick has a stronger direct effect on ducks and creates deeper waves.

Project Tabletop 1.1.0

Water Garden joins Project Tabletop: an interactive pond with a flowing rock waterfall, floating rubber ducks and ripples you can stir with a real stick.

Download and install

Download ProjectTabletop-1.1.0-win-x64-setup.exe from the assets below. It targets Windows 11 x64 and includes .NET, the Windows App SDK, native C++ dependencies, hand models and artwork. Setup installs for your account without administrator rights and creates a Start menu shortcut. Existing settings, saved games and exported pictures are preserved when updating from 1.0.

The setup is unsigned; Windows may display an unknown-publisher warning. SHA256SUMS.txt records the release asset hashes, and the JSON manifest identifies the source commit and installed payload. Source archives are separate from the installer. The optional local-control MCP executable remains included in the ControlMcp subfolder.

Water Garden

  • A rounded limestone pool, clear water over pebbles, mossy rocks and fine sand. A three-second camera move brings the garden closer, followed by white handwritten titles.
  • A simulated three-dimensional waterfall flows down layered rocks and sends ripples and currents into the pond.
  • Learn a coloured stick tip or eye sticker, then move it near the board surface to stir the water and push the ducks. Marker profiles are saved for each camera.
  • Ten yellow rubber ducks bob, tilt and drift with the water. The waterfall pushes nearby ducks away, and stick movements nudge them aside.
  • Open the bottom-left arrow for Exit, Reset and Duck+. Added ducks fall into the pond with a splash and an expanding ripple, bouncing away from other ducks on contact. Keep the Duck+ lettering covered to add another every second, up to twenty ducks; Reset restores the original ten.
  • Bottom controls pause while the stick is detected over the water. Remove it, uncover the control and begin a fresh press to use the buttons again. The laptop preview also accepts clicks.

Other improvements

  • Water Garden has a new menu illustration featuring the fountain and ducks. Paint remains available beside Roulette on the second menu page.
  • An illustrated quick-start guide explains projector, webcam and board positioning, brightness and startup controls.
  • Improved stick-marker learning, projected-artwork rejection and tracking-reference handling.
  • Water Garden materials are included in Windows packages and checked during installation smoke tests. Missing essential textures keep board controls inactive and show a loading error.
