bbq.gui.updateables - what is that?

Some documentation for "Updateables" would be really useful. I think these might allow for in place editing, which is what I'm actually looking for, but I'm not sure.

In place editing is exactly what they are for, but sadly the code is very old and crufty. They are not documented yet as they need to be gutted and refactored to reuse bbq.gui.form.* elements internally instead of their own versions.
