Can not access serial repl after Circuitpython installed onto esp32s2-kaluga-1

After I flashed the uf2 bootloader and then installed the Circuitpyton .uf2 file everything seems to work fine. I can move code files over to the recognized CIRCUITPY USB drive and have them executed when it starts up, but I can not for the life of me seem to get a serial repl connection. I can connect through the UART connection which I used to flash the uf2 bootloader but all I can see is the boot load output when the system is reset. I just can't get a repl. I've tried hitting enter, ctrl-c, ctrl-d, and nothing seems to work. I have used multiple terminal programs on both Linux & Windows. Any idea of what might be going on?

Hi @chronos0598 The REPL is not available over UART pins.
CircuitPython creates a serial port along with CIRCUITPY drive. Try looking for this serial port...

I want to smack myself in the face now. Since this is the first board that I worked with that didn't come preinstalled with Circuitpy I got so used to compiling and flashing on ttyUSB1 while wiring up the native usb to work as a storage device i didn't even notice that another serial device ttyACM0 was created at the same time the native USB was plugged in. Thank you so much.
