Step-by-step tutorial for a 'Hello world'

I want to try webhook and it would help to me to see a simple example of:

1. json configuration file (explained)
2. wget or curl execution to trigger this example hook

I don't understand some of the json parameters, and even less how to call an action from an HTTP client.
