Adding category and date format to import

Could you add the date format ie MM/DD/YYYY and a category column to the import? All my transactions have the date as MM/DD/YYYY and a category column ie restaurants, groceries, services... It would really help with the importing of transactions and keeping track of where my expenses are applied.

Currently the importer tries to automatically detect the date format and should be able to deal with MM/DD/YYYY. Is that not the case for you?
Regarding the category column, it has already been requested before and is on the roadmap. Should be able to implement this in the near future.

I found out what entities mean, so you can forget that question. I did another import with a debit column that was the same as the amount column and the debit amount still did not update. Do I need to make them negative for the debit amount to reflect the total amount. `I'll try that on another import.

After the transacions are imported, when I review them the date is displaying as dd/mm/yyyy in the transactionlist and my total seems to only reflect an amount for transactions that fall into the current month and excludes all the other transactions that look like they are in other months. If I go into the transaction, the date displays properly. So, the expense pie chart and bar chart also only displays 3 transactions that show in the transaction list for the current month. This also explains why my net worth is not updated properly. I hope I explained it all clearly. Let me know if I'm doing something wrong Thanks

I'm not sure I understand fully the flows you're describing.

"my total" here refers to what exactly?

the expense pie chart and bar chart also only displays 3 transactions that show in the transaction list for the current month
if you're refering to the dashboard charts then yes, they only account for data from a specific month. You can interact with the month picker (top left of the page) to show data from previous months.

It would be best if you could provide a minimal reproducible example of the issues you're facing: a list of the transactions you're importing, how you're importing them (what columns you assign to each field) and exactly what data in the app does not align with your expectectations.

All my transactions were for the month of February. I'm only using one date (the transaction date) After the import completes onty 3 transactions are show for february. the rest show for march, apriil, november and december even though they are february transactions. If I go into each transaction they show as february dates. So, it seems that you are using the transaction date from the transaction list to calculate the amount total. the amount column is assigned as debit.

2/14/2026, beals, -59.00
2/13/2026,supermarket, -120.00
2/13/2026, restaraunt, -35.00
2/12/2026, restaraunt, -25.00
2/11/2026, supermarket, -75.00

the first 3 show as february in the transaction list since the day is greater than 12.
the last 2 show as dec and nov in the transaction list since the day is 12 or less and are not included in the totals for feb.

I haven't been able to take a deeper look at this issue yet, but it seems like the date parser might be struggling with MM/DD/YYYY format. I'll see what can be done about that and will get back to you as soon as possible.
