From your screenshots the Retry button is missing on purpose, not hidden. In the 2.0 betas Retry only shows up (in the inspector bar and the right click menu) for a direct download that Motrix can rebuild from the URL alone. Tasks that were added with cookies, custom headers, a referer, a proxy or other per task options (for example links sent from the browser extension) don't get Retry, because Motrix deliberately doesn't store those values since they can contain credentials. Older tasks created before this was tracked are blocked the same way.

What you can do right now: Copy URL (or send it again from the browser if the site needs your login), then New Task with the same folder. If the link needs cookies, re-sending from the browser is the only way it will work. Expect it may start from 0 rather than reuse the 17%.

"A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable network" is Windows saying there was no route out when aria2 connected (adapter drop, VPN switch, sleep). To ride out short drops, raise Settings > Downloads > "Connections and retries" > "Maximum attempts" (0 = unlimited) and "Retry delay (s)".

the download was added via the browser extension

So I tested it again I another download by pasting the link in motrix not via the extension.

I downloaded it up about 35% and turned off the network for the laptop and I tried to retry the download but it wasn't working I have added screenshots

Thanks for testing it with a plain link, that narrows it down. This one is a bug, and it's already fixed on main but not released yet.

"cannot be retried safely: checkpoint-missing" comes from the retry planner (src/core/session/direct-recovery-planner.ts): it finds the partial .motrix file but no resume checkpoint next to it, so it refuses to retry. With the engine's sqlite session storage the checkpoint lives in aria2.db, not in a <file>.aria2 file, so the check wrongly failed after a network drop. That's issue #2187, fixed in #2194 (commit 5d5a1d1, Sep 23). The fix also updates the bundled aria2 engine so Motrix can ask it whether a checkpoint exists, and its test covers exactly your case: "the retry after a network drop must resume, not fail checkpoint-missing".

The latest release, v2.0.0-beta.40, is from Sep 20, so it doesn't have the fix yet. It should be in the next beta. Until then, Copy URL and New Task is the workaround. It saves as name (1).ext and starts from 0, so you can delete the old .motrix partial afterwards. The "No URI available." error itself is just aria2 giving up once the network is gone; the fix is about Retry resuming after that.

I checked this against the aria2 engine each version bundles: on beta.40 only the .motrix partial and aria2.db are left after a drop and the retry is refused; on main the same retry resumes.
