Nice idea. Let me see if it's possible or not. Thanks. |

Thanks for the idea and the screenshots! The next version adds Keep Image Colors to Display Settings. It appears when the reading theme is Dark or Black, and keeps pictures in their own colors while the page itself stays dark. It's off by default, since line drawings on a transparent background read better inverted, as you mentioned. |

This is in 2.6.0: Keep Image Colors in Display Settings, shown when the reading theme is Dark or Black. Pictures keep their own colors while the page stays dark. It's off by default, since line drawings on a transparent background read better inverted. Thanks for the idea and the screenshots! |

Uh oh!

I'd like if there was an option not to invert image colors in dark mode. I have a computer vision textbook with a mix of color and monochrome images and I have to swap back to light mode every other page.
I know line drawings with transparent backgrounds would need colors inverted, and opaque white backgrounds look bad unless they match the page background, but it's similarly bad to swap shadows/highlights or recolor images in technical drawings.
A toggle to invert images in dark mode could default to the current method but give some control to the user.
