In the fall of 1951, Will Burtin published this graph showing the effectiveness of three popular antibiotics on 16 different bacteria, measured in terms of minimum inhibitory concentration.
This is a D3 version of @mbostock’s orignal Protovis remake. The source comments are his. Some minor details have been changed to match the original design more closely.

В многоклеточных организмах рост тканей редко происходит исключительно за счет роста клеток без деления клеток , но чаще всего происходит за счет пролиферации клеток . [ 1 ] Это происходит потому, что одна клетка, имеющая только одну копию генома в ядре клетки , может осуществлять биосинтез и, таким образом, расти только с половинной скоростью роста двух клеток. Следовательно, две клетки растут (накапливают массу) в два раза быстрее, чем одна клетка, а четыре клетки растут в 4 раза быстрее, чем одна клетка. Этот принцип приводит к экспоненциальному увеличению скорости роста ткани (накоплению массы) во время пролиферации клеток из-за экспоненциального увеличения числа клеток.
