Hello,
Summary:
Implement support for XDG Desktop Portals (specifically org.freedesktop.portal.FileChooser) within the Adobe AIR SDK for Linux to enable secure file operations in sandboxed environments like Snap and Flatpak.
The Problem:
Currently, AIR for Linux uses standard GTK3 dialogs (GtkFileChooserDialog). When an AIR application is distributed via Snap or Flatpak, these dialogs are confined within the sandbox. To access user files, developers are forced to request broad permissions (like --filesystem=home), which compromises system security and violates the principle of least privilege.
The Solution:
By switching to GtkFileChooserNative, AIR can delegate file selection to the host system.
I created a little ANE here to try XDG Desktop Portals (GtkFileChooserNative).
Thanks
