‼️ 👉 App Fails to Update Despite Available Update Notification

Hello everyone,

In mid-December, we updated the certificate, which caused an issue with in-app updates on Windows and Mac. While this issue has now been resolved, if you still see the 'Update Available' popup but cannot proceed with the update, please manually download and install the latest version of the app.

Even with a reinstall, the next time the update notification pops up, it doesn't run the updater. It "seems" like the "thermometer" bar fills up, but nothing happens beyond that. The "Update Available" text then becomes unclickable. I can close the update dialog with the X, button, but that's about it.

Sorry you’re running into this frustrating issue. Thanks for reporting it.
Here are a couple of steps you can try to get the updater working again:

1. Clear the updater cache

• Mac: /Users/YOUR_USER/Library/Application Support/Caches/app-updater
• Windows: %localappdata%\app-updater

Close the app, delete that folder, then reopen and try running the update again.

2. Reset the app data (with backup first!)
If clearing the cache doesn’t fix it:

• In the app, go to Settings > Backup > Backup data and save your backup.

• Close the app and delete the znote folder:

  • Mac: /Users/YOUR_USER/Library/Application Support/znote
  • Windows: %localappdata%\Roaming\znote

• Reinstall the app and restore your backup.
