Help with MacBook Pro 14,1 – macOS Tahoe

Good evening!

I successfully installed macOS Tahoe on my MacBook Pro 14,1, and I'm happy to say that the system is running very smoothly.

Audio and video are working perfectly, with no issues so far. The only problem I haven't been able to solve is the Wi-Fi.

I've already applied the available post-install/root patches, but Wi-Fi still isn't working.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know if there is a specific patch, kext, or configuration that I should try for this model?

Everything else is working great — Wi-Fi is the only thing missing!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I run a MacBookPro14,3 (the 15-inch 2017 model) which shares the exact same wireless chipset generation (Broadcom BCM4350) and Kaby Lake platform as your MacBookPro14,1.

On macOS Tahoe, standard OCLP releases don't have the updated networking payload routing in place yet for these machines. To get Wi-Fi working properly on your 14,1 under Tahoe, you need to use the Developer / T1 experimental patcher build where the modern wireless kext routing and Tahoe-compatible IO80211 payload handling are integrated.

You can grab the experimental build from the release page here:

Install that build, run the Post-Install Root Patcher, and reboot. Wi-Fi should come right up!

Yes, I’m already running [4.0.0.18002.6-exp-tahoe-beta], and overall the system is working very smoothly. Audio and video are working perfectly, but unfortunately I still can’t get the Wi-Fi working.

I’m using the exact same MacBook Pro 14,1 configuration as in your setup. I’ve already tried applying the patch to enable Wi-Fi, but it still doesn’t work.

I’m attaching some photos/screenshots below that may help identify what is missing or what needs to be patched.

If you could take a look and point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it.

In the previous build, the EFI generator was skipping the IOSkywalkFamily Wi-Fi kext on macOS 15+ to avoid an early boot panic, which is why your Wi-Fi root patch couldn't start.

We just refreshed the experimental release 4.0.0.18002.8 to restore proper Skywalk injection and safety flags for Tahoe:

1. Download build 4.0.0.18002.8.
2. Click Build and Install OpenCore to your disk and reboot.
3. Run Post-Install Root Patch and reboot once more.

Let us know if this gets your Wi-Fi running!

Thank you for reporting this and confirming that graphics acceleration, audio, and video are working smoothly on your MacBookPro14,1!

Why Wi-Fi was not activating in 4.0.0.18002.6:

In version 4.0.0.18002.6, the EFI builder (wireless.py) was temporarily skipping IOSkywalkFamily.kext and the kernel Skywalk block on macOS 15/26 to avoid boot panics on certain older hardware. Because the EFI was missing the Skywalk kexts, the Post-Install root patch could not attach to the wireless card.

Fixed in Release 4.0.0.18002.9:

We have just released 4.0.0.18002.9-exp-tahoe-beta:

1. Full Wi-Fi Fix: IOSkywalkFamily.kext, IO80211FamilyLegacy.kext, and the Skywalk block are fully enabled with safe boot-args (ipc_control_port_options=0 -amfipassbeta).
2. Promoted to Standard Build: For MacBookPro14,1, all optimizations (dart=0, igfxfw=2 for Intel GuC firmware, igfxonln=1, -igfxnotelemetry, watchdog=0, ipc_control_port_options=0) are now automatically injected into the default 🟢 Standard / Safe Build Profile. You no longer need to configure any developer settings.

How to apply the fix:

1. Download and open OpenCore-Patcher-T2 from v4.0.0.18002.9.
2. Click Build and Install OpenCore (Standard profile is default) and install to your internal drive EFI.
3. Reboot.
4. Open the patcher and run Post-Install Root Patch (Networking: Modern Wireless).
5. Reboot one last time.

Your Broadcom Wi-Fi (14E4:43BA) will be operational! Let us know how it goes!
