How do I use the thought record for imposter syndrome? #3

Imposter syndrome is one of the best use cases for the thought record because it has a clear distortion structure. Here's a worked example from my own records: Situation: PR review with 3 comments on my code. Automatic thought: "They're going to realize I don't know what I'm doing. I'm a fraud." Cognitive distortion: Mind Reading (assuming they think I'm incompetent) + Labeling ("I'm a fraud" — one event becomes identity). Evidence against:
Reframe: "A PR review with comments is the normal code review process. 3 comments means they engaged with my code seriously. This is how code improves, not evidence I'm a fraud." Intensity: 78 → 31 (47-point drop) The key insight: Imposter syndrome is almost always mind reading (you assume others think you're incompetent) or all-or-nothing (if I'm not perfect, I'm a fraud). When you see the distortion name, the thought loses its grip. Try the Thought Record Tool with this exact scenario. The distortion checker will tag it immediately. |

I've been feeling like I don't deserve my dev job lately — every PR review feels like proof I'm a fraud. Has anyone used the thought record tool for this specifically? What situation/thought do you put in? Looking for a concrete walkthrough.
