I just noticed a few days ago that I'm now getting a 500 internal server error when I click to view the Results in the app now. I've enabled debugging in my Compose file and I seem to evidently have a negative value in my results somewhere and the application is throwing an exception. I also added PRUNE_RESULTS_OLDER_THAN and set the value yesterday to =14. Overnight it did prune the results down significantly, but the 500 server error still persists. I'm not sure if that means the problem data is still within the past 14 days or if there's something somewhere else that the PRUNE is not getting. I've just set it to =7 to let it prune some more of the data down to the prior 7 days and will see what things look like tomorrow. If a 7-day prune still gives me errors tomorrow, I guess I'll try =1 and see what results I get there.

That said, any other suggestions anyone may have for me?

I did a little surgery this afternoon with some help from ChatGPT. It turned out that I had 4x rows in the results table with the upload value being a negative number, for whatever reason. I blew away those 4x rows in the results table and everything is good in the world again. Not sure where those negative numbers would have come from.

There were 4x rows that the value in the "upload" column ... where the tested upload throughput speed is stored, happened to be a negative number for whatever reason.

Pruning won't fix this, and your stack trace already says which column is at fault — it's upload, on at least one row still inside your retention window.

What's happening

Frame 1 is app/Models/Traits/ResultDataAttributes.php:167, which is the uploadBits accessor:

The upload column on the Results table is rendered by ResultTable.php:65:

The only guard is blank(). A negative value isn't blank, so it goes to upload_bits, hits the check in Bitrate and throws — and because this happens while Filament is building the table, one bad row takes down the entire Results page, not just its own cell. That's why the page is 500 rather than showing a single broken row.

Why a negative got stored at all

create_results_table declares both columns unsigned:

SQLite (the default for the Docker image) has no unsigned integer type and does not enforce that constraint, so a bad reading from the speedtest CLI gets persisted as-is. On MySQL/MariaDB in strict mode the insert would have been rejected instead.

Fix

Find the offending rows:

Then null them out — the column is nullable, and blank() short-circuits on null, so the page renders those cells empty instead of throwing:

This keeps the rows and their ping/jitter/server data rather than deleting them. If you'd rather drop them entirely, swap update(...) for delete().

Set PRUNE_RESULTS_OLDER_THAN back to whatever you actually want for retention — walking it down to 7 and then 1 only helps by accident, and only if the bad row happens to be old.

@alexjustesen worth guarding this on the read side regardless: a single persisted negative currently makes the whole Results page unreachable, and the same pattern applies to download_bits. Clamping or returning null in the accessor instead of throwing would degrade to one blank cell.

Thanks for your detailed response. You are definitely right, pruning won't fix it because for whatever reason, I've actually gotten a few new results over the past few days where there's a new negative value in the upload column for a test. I had cleaned up the prior rows. This time around I set the data in the row for that column to NULL instead of nuking the whole row. But, for some reason, I'm getting negative values from some tests on occasion, from different end-point testing servers as well.

Two screen snippets attached.

Anyway, two different ookla test endpoints that I use (I have 5x in rotation) have given back a negative value for some reason. Could an enhancement make it in the code in the future to guard against this?
