Dear all,
I've been testing OSPREY over the past few days and found that it supports beam simulation. However, there are no relevant example files available. I intend to apply it to linear accelerators and perform simulations with TraceWin. Could you please tell me how to get started? Thank you.

Hi @wwshunan, thanks for trying OSPREY! There's a terminology point worth clearing up first, because "simulation" can mean two different things here:

1. Simulation in OSPREY currently refers to simulating the control system — running mock/soft IOCs (or the Mock connector) so the agent can read and write channels safely without real hardware. This is meant for developing and testing the agent off-machine.
2. Beam-dynamics simulation with TraceWin (propagating a distribution through your linac lattice) is a different thing, and OSPREY does not integrate TraceWin or any beam-physics code out of the box — which is why you didn't find example files.

Could you tell us a bit more about your goal?

• If you want the agent to operate a virtual linac control system, that's supported — the build interview (osprey build-interview) can scaffold a Mock/simulated setup, and we can point you at the right docs.
• If you want the agent to drive TraceWin to run beam simulations, that's not built in, but it's feasible as a custom integration: OSPREY's python_executor MCP server can run sandboxed Python in a workspace, so a wrapper around TraceWin's CLI/project files could let the agent launch and parse runs. We'd be glad to discuss how to structure that.
