First off, thanks for this component, I've been using it for my lawn zones and it's been great for cutting back over-watering.
I'm now trying to add a drip zone for a hedge of ~200 arborvitae (thuja), and I'm not sure I'm modelling it right. The row is about 140 m long, plants ~70 cm apart, with inline emitters roughly every 33 cm at ~2 L/h (so ~3 emitters per metre).
Where I get stuck is the zone's Size (m²) and Throughput (l/min). For a hedge on a drip line there isn't really an "area" — I care about delivering a certain number of litres per plant for a deep, infrequent soak (I'm aiming for something like ~10 L/plant, maybe once a week). When I put in a plausible size for the strip, the calculated run time comes out to only a couple of minutes, which is nowhere near a deep soak.
So I'm wondering:
Is Smart Irrigation intended mainly for area/sprinkler zones, or is there a supported way to configure drip / emitter zones dosed per plant (litres) rather than as mm over an area?
For a hedge like this, what would you put for Size and Throughput, and how do you think about the ET "bucket" when the wetted footprint is just a few emitters per plant rather than a whole area?
Any recommended pattern for deep, infrequent watering of shrubs/hedges via drip?
