it could be useful using a confingparser (a ini format default parser) or a xml reader....

but it also true that maybe keeping the same format of the input file is more conservative and it is useful to mantain a cross compatibility between fortran and python version

I'd like to keep backwards compatibility as much as possible, at least for the initial port. We can definitely add enhancements later. I'm thinking to end up with a pyflexwin script that mimics the outer behavior of the old flexwin, and a richer python API for future use.
