I assure you, they do work. All comments are stored as JSON files in the content/comments folder. Any comments that happen to be present in the "approved" folder, would naturally show up right below the posts they belong to. Everytime someone comments, their comment would be stored in the comments folder, awaiting approval. It's totally upto you to decide whether or not they deserve to be moved to the "approved" folder.

What's with them weird names?

Uh. Well, you see, the naming convention for comments is:

YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss.nameofpostfile.json

So naturally, a comment posted on 14:57 on the 29th of February 2016, on a post stored in a file named "2016-15-19.First post.html" would have the filename:

2016-02-29 14:57:00.2016-15-19.First post.html.json

Ugly? Well, yes. But it's something you don't need to worry about. All comment files are generated by the program, and it's fairly efficient at reading them.
