So, after installing HURev, it usually pops up a notice asking me if I want to use HURev to run my carlinkit ccpm dongle, that's plugged into the other USB port and assigned to the autokit app. It got to a point where I wondered "Can HURev actually run the carlinkit dongle, seeing that it keeps on asking me if I want to use it?" Now I know it can't directly, but I wondered if there was a roundabout way to do it.
So my aibox runs via the HURev app. Then I installed autokit on my aibox (it doesn't have autokit, it uses a different app to wirelessly run AA and Carplay). Then, I plugged in my carlinkit dongle to the aibox, and the prompt came up for autokit to run the dongle. Then I plugged in my wife's iPhone to the carlinkit dongle and voila, it worked! So now I can just use HURev to run both Android Auto, AND Apple Carplay via the aibox! Cool huh? LOL.
Here's what it looks like:
Headunit -> installed HURev -> aibox -> installed autokit -> carlinkit dongle -> iPhone -> Apple Carplay! LOL.
And yeah, I know this is a roundabout way to get Apple Carplay when I can just plug the Carlinkit CCPM dongle straight into the USB port, but this is just a proof of concept post, don't take it too seriously :)
