Animation for SupportingPaneSceneStrategy supporting pane

I'm trying to animate the navigation to the supporting pane of SupportingPaneSceneStrategy. It looks like paneAnimation is used for this purpose. However, it's not working.

I'm testing the approach in MaterialSupportingPaneActivity.
