DASH - Not supporting Variable length description in sgpd

Hello,

We are integrating DRM Key Rotation in our DASH streams, and we see Media3 is not able to start playing the stream, throwing the following related error:

"Variable length description in sgpd found (unsupported)"

Could you tell us if that kind of support is planned in the near future?

Thanks for reporting. I can confirm the test stream above can't be played. I can't get the error message you report but I see that the DRM is not supported on the device I try:

Thanks Marc, we actually got the reported message, through our analytics tool error report (NPAW-Youbora) when the player is not able to play the DRM protected stream.

I get the originally reported sgpd error when adding the test content to the demo app's JSON with:

I get the 'unsupported' logging in #3177 (comment) if I try and play it without telling the demo app to enable widevine support:

I think this is a feature request to support parsing version 1 sgpd boxes with variable length. It looks like this limitation has been present since sgpd parsing was originally added to ExoPlayer in 2016: 41b86f6

I will mark this as a low priority enhancement (since it hasn't been raised in the last 10 years). We have no plans to work on this, but would accept a high quality PR with tests that implements support.
