Compatibility with existing browser extensions

Can Valent work with extensions like :

Hi, in principle, yes.

Neither of those specific extensions will work, but for unsandboxed installs (i.e. not Flatpak), this should be relatively straight-forward to port. For Flatpak installs, I'm really not up to date with how this works.

Usually the browser extension exchange bits of JSON with a "native host connector" (basically a script/binary the application comes with) which uses D-Bus or something to communicate with the application (i.e. Valent). That's problematic for Flatpak apps, or it used to be, but I honestly just don't know if that's been addressed, yet.

I don't plan on distributing a bunch of browser/file manager extensions with Valent (like GSConnect), but if someone picks up this task, I'm happy to dub one the "official" extension/plugin (and even allocate a repo for it, if desired). I'm not sure when/if I'll have time to do this myself though 😐
