Thotspot, heavily inspired by the popular website, facebook, is a social media application that allows users to build a network, share posts, maintain personal profiles, and view and comment on each others' posts and profiles. It also supports live chat between users.
- Users can sign up, log in, or log out
- The app has a demo login button so prospective users can tour the site
- Users must be logged in to make any changes to the site (such as posting or commenting)
- Users can view a chronologically-ordered list of posts on their profile and also their friends' profiles
- Users can request a friendship with another user. Upon approval by the requested user, the two are connected as friends.
- Activities such as wall-posting, and optionally, messaging, are restricted to friends-only.
- Users can post on their own wall.
- Users can post on the walls of their friends.
- Users can comment on their posts or their friends' posts
- Users can delete their own posts and comments
- Users can edit their own posts and comments
- Users can delete their friends' comments on their posts
- When logged in, users see a home page populated by a chronologically ordered list of posts by all people in their network (including themselves).
- When on the homepage and logged in, the newsfeed is live-updated to reflect changes
- Users can send messages to other users
- Users can add multiple users to a message
- Users can see new messages live (without reloading their page)
- Users can like posts or comments
- Posts and comments display their number of likes, as well as limited information about which users liked them
- Notifications (Tommy Pickles commented on your wall)
- Comments on a comment
- Search
- Pictures/albums
- Flagrant violations of personal privacy
