What's the reason for dependency on yo >= 1.2.0 ?

Why do you have the following dependencies set?

"peerDependencies": {
    "yo": ">=1.2.0"
  },

This breaks any install attempt on my pc.

AFAIK using this generator without yo is impossible, hence it's in peerDependencies.

It should install automatically, but if you have older version installed globally, and you're running npm install (w/o sudo), then it may break. Anyway, try running:

sudo npm -g update

I would suggest trying

npm cache clean
npm install -g npm yo

before a full global update.

thanks for answering.
I’ve just checked on windows, that I indeed can get yo in version 1.2.1. Strangely on Ubuntu 14.04 I could not get a newer version as 0.17.0.

That’s why I asked you which Linux distribution you use for development. Ubuntu seems to do a lot of strange things.

I don't see how distro can influence npm packages availability. I'm currently running Ubuntu, and I have it available.

Maybe try sudo npm cache clean && sudo rm -rf /tmp/.npm

Well... as other posts indicate, you have to do "a little more" on Ubuntu 14.04 to get the latest node.js and other things... :-)

If you're on Ubuntu Server, first do this:

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
Then, do this:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:chris-lea/node.js
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nodejs
Then, you have the latest version of node.js installed.

If you do not add the repository, you will not get the current version.
