Describe the enhancement you want to request
I'm a new user of OpenCode and really appreciate the open-source AI coding agent's capabilities for development workflows. I noticed the project has multilingual README files (e.g., Chinese, Japanese, Korean, various European languages) which shows great attention to global users, and I'd like to inquire about the official roadmap and plans for native multi-language support within the OpenCode product itself (Terminal UI, Desktop App, and VS Code SDK/IDE extension).
Currently, it appears the core UI/UX of OpenCode (e.g., terminal prompts, menu options, desktop app interface, error messages, configuration hints) is in English only. For non-English speaking developers and teams (including those in Asian, Latin American, and European regions), native language support would significantly lower the learning curve and improve the overall user experience, especially for team adoption in non-English speaking work environments.
Questions
- Does the OpenCode team have a timeline or milestone for adding native multi-language (i18n/l10n) support to the Terminal UI, Desktop App, and VS Code SDK?
- Which languages are being prioritized for initial support (e.g., Spanish, Chinese, German, Japanese, etc.)?
- Is the project open to community contributions for translation/l10n work (e.g., PO files, JSON translation assets, or a dedicated translation workflow)?
- Are there any technical constraints or ongoing refactors that are delaying the implementation of multi-language support?
Global adoption is a key factor for open-source tools, and native language support would make OpenCode more accessible to a much larger developer community. Many of us are eager to contribute to translation efforts if the project is ready to accept community input for i18n/l10n.
Thank you for your hard work on this amazing tool, and looking forward to your response!
