I think you could make a global AGENTS.md and include things like:

I only speak mandarin so you must always respond in chinese.

Assume I know little to no english.

You most likely would want this prompt to be at least a few sentences and consider using xml tag style sections to help llm.

I followed the instructions given above to make the configuration, and then attempted to interact with OpenCode in 2 to 3 different models. It works for me either way.

Additionally, in the "thinking block" of the reasoning model, I observed "... ,but they previously stated that they only speak Mandarin and want me to always respond in Chinese. I should respond in Chinese as requested. …”
