Updating Matploblib to 3.9.0 (or greater)

📝 Description of the feature

Currently we're using matplotlib 3.8.4, it seems that updating it to 3.9.0 creates problems with plotting and testing. This is a reminder issue to check in a couple of months whether the issue is still here or if it has been fixed.

💡 Steps for implementing the feature

• bump matplotlib version from 3.8.4 to 3.9.0 or greater

Recently updated to Matplotlib 3.9.2 and seems to be working fine, closing the issue
