Motivation

table.log.tiered.local-segments controls how many segments a table's bucket retains locally. Retaining more segments allows streaming read jobs to read more data on the Fluss server instead of from remote storage. For scenarios like column pruning, setting a larger value ensures more stable read jobs. Therefore, it's desirable for this parameter to be dynamically configurable using alter table config.
