@dan-s1 I attempted to make this change in the past and ran into problems because it introduces more fundamental changes to the Spring Security filter chain as described in the Spring Security documentation.

I tested this again with OpenID Connect configured and although NiFi Registry provides the Application Bearer Token, the REST API denies subsequent requests. I have not had the opportunity to research this further.

I am going to close this pull request for now, but if you are able to test and verify successful authentication with this change, feel free to open it again.
