As with PR 925 this PR has an extra commit
c638191which has been merged into Apache's git repository but has not yet synced to the GitHub mirror repo. Once that sync occurs, this PR will only contain commitsa6c543bby @andrewmlim and5a3f247by me (1 file, ~100 lines changed).This should supersede PR 855.
