I'm fine with this change, though due to our backwards compatibility guarantees it's not really needed, is it? People should be able to use a pekko-connectors that was compiled against 1.3 in a project that has pekko 1.4 just fine?

Main branch is for 2.0.0 dev and we are rolling out deprecations, etc in pekko 1.x so it is useful to test with latest pekko 1.x until we are ready to use pekko 2.
After we do a pekko-grpc release, we should be able to change this repo to build with pekko 2.
