What changes were proposed in this pull request?
Allows clients to access secure API endpoints (to download policies, etc.) in containerized environments where authentication details are present in HTTP headers and maybe used to access secure endpoints if enabled via a config on the client side.
How was this patch tested?
Added unit test for the new method. CI pending.
