How to implement distributed caching

I'm interested in implementing distributed caching so sessions can continue if, for example, Server A goes down for maintenance and the load balancer transfers the user's next request to Server B.

Many years ago I recall that Shiro 1.x supported ehCache to do this. While planning to migrate to Shiro 2.0 I am reviewing the documentation and it is showing "TBD" for both of the distributed caching solutions. https://shiro.apache.org/caching.html

Is this feature already supported but just not documented or is it also TBD?

Although it's probably poorly documented, but Shiro supports Java Cache standard (JSR-108) and I would recommend Hazelcast from personal experience, which is fully supported by Shiro 2.
