What is this PR for?

Alluxio Open Source stops development, other projects like Trino, and public cloud vendors like Ali Cloud also remove Alluxio support.

What type of PR is it?

Breaking Change.

What is the Jira issue?

ZEPPELIN-6420

How should this be tested?

Pass GHA.

Screenshots (if appropriate)

  • Is there breaking changes for older versions? Yes, it removes a feature.

@jongyoul Spark deprecated SparkR in 4.0 and is likely going to remove it in 5.0 (early 2027) https://lists.apache.org/thread/qjgsgxklvpvyvbzsx1qr8o533j4zjlm5. Do we want to remove the R interpreter on our side? From what I'm seeing, no R-related issues have been reported to the community these years, and due to recent AI growth, a lot of R packages are making breaking changes while fixing the CVE, which causes R environment breaks heavily (I see that Spark's R env has broken several months and failed to get fixed)
