Spec sheet auto-fill

In a vehicle's Spec sheet → Edit specs, Look up data automatically searches the web for the vehicle's engine oil, gearbox and differential oil, brake fluid, coolant, wheel bolt torque and tyre pressure.

Setup

Set both keys and restart torq (see Configuration):

Without both keys the button is disabled and says which key is missing.

Note

When the auto-fill runs, the vehicle's make, model, chassis code, year and engine go to Tavily, and those plus HSN/TSN and the search results go to Google. Nothing else leaves your server.

How it works

1. Gemini names the engine's trade names (e.g. "C 220 CDI" for an OM646 in a W203). They are used as search terms only, never as values.
2. torq runs four web searches with Tavily: engine oil, gearbox and differential, coolant and brakes, wheels and tyres. One lookup uses 8 credits, so the free plan covers about 125 lookups a month.
3. Gemini picks the values out of these search results.
4. torq checks every value before it reaches the form.

Values without guessing

A value is kept only if its cited source is one of the search results and the value is written in that result's text: "6,5 Liter" for 6.5 L, "110 Nm" for 110 Nm. Numbers need their unit next to them, and a tyre pressure range such as "2.2–2.4 bar" counts only if the source writes it as one range. Everything else stays empty.

Warning

The check guarantees that a value appears in its source, not that the source is right or that the model picked the right row of a table. Click the source badge and check each value before you save, especially tyre pressures, which depend on tyre size and load.

In the dialog

• Every filled field shows a badge such as ⚡ Auto · carwiki.de ↗ that opens the source in a new tab.
• Also replace filled-in values decides whether existing values are overwritten; by default only empty fields are filled.
• Editing a filled value marks the field Adjusted manually; the other fields keep their sources. Typing the found value back restores the source.
• Nothing is saved until you click Save; Cancel discards everything.
