containerization, rancher desktop?

rancher desktop a lima vm that provides containerization capabilities including the option for a k8s cluster on the local machine.
it seems the containerization landscape is doing what rancher desktop provides.

is the goal to have configuration overrides as well as a k8s cluster implementation?
are there plans to approach k8s in swift or will it interface with it?

for the ones that cannot wait. it might be useful to have some sidecar they could run on until swift catches up.
