Tabs and compare

Working with tabs

Markappoly keeps several documents open at once, each in its own tab along the top of the main area.

  • Click the + on the tab bar, or press ⌘T, to start a new document.
  • Click a tab to switch to it.
  • Close a tab with its × or with ⌘W. If the document has unsaved changes, Markappoly checks before discarding them.

Opening a file that's already open brings its tab to the front instead of opening a second copy.

Comparing two files

Once you have at least two tabs open, the Compare button in the top bar becomes available. Click it to put two documents side by side with their differences highlighted line by line.

Two menus above the comparison let you pick which document goes on each side, so you can line up any pair without reopening anything. Click "Close compare" to return to the normal view.

This is useful for seeing what changed between two versions of a document, or for reading a draft next to its source.
