GemMine is intended to centralize the lifecycle of scaffolded Ruby gem fixtures: create a temporary gem project for integration-style tests, run the scenario, and tear the project down so test suites do not leave mined-out tmp/spec-process-* workspaces behind.

The gem intentionally builds tiny fixture gems, not full application templates. It writes the minimal gemspec/lib structure needed by Bundler and RubyGems, can build and install that fixture into an isolated GEM_HOME, and can initialize a local git repository for specs that exercise git sources.

Compatible with MRI Ruby 3.2.0+, and concordant releases of JRuby, and TruffleRuby. CI workflows and Appraisals are generated for MRI Ruby 3.2.0+. This test floor is configured by ruby.test_minimum in .kettle-jem.yml and may be higher than the gem's runtime compatibility floor when legacy Rubies are not practical for the current toolchain.

Install the gem and add to the application's Gemfile by executing:

If bundler is not being used to manage dependencies, install the gem by executing:

GemMine does not keep global configuration. Callers provide the scaffold root and, when installation is needed, the target gem_home.

By default, generated fixture gems are tiny, valid RubyGem packages with enough metadata for Bundler and RubyGems to build, install, and resolve them in tests:
