Security Policy

Supported Versions

We actively support security updates for the following versions:

Reporting a Vulnerability

We take the security of MusIQ seriously. If you believe you have found a security vulnerability, please report it to us as described below.

Please do NOT:

  • Open a public GitHub issue for the security vulnerability
  • Discuss the vulnerability in public forums or chat rooms
  • Share the vulnerability with others until it has been resolved

Please DO:

  1. Email us directly at [INSERT SECURITY EMAIL] with details about the vulnerability

  2. Include as much information as possible:

    • Type of vulnerability (e.g., SQL injection, XSS, authentication bypass)
    • Location of the vulnerable code (file, function, line number if possible)
    • Steps to reproduce the vulnerability
    • Potential impact and severity
    • Suggested fix (if you have one)
  3. Allow us time to investigate and address the vulnerability before public disclosure

What to Expect

  • Acknowledgment: We will acknowledge receipt of your report within 48 hours
  • Initial Assessment: We will provide an initial assessment within 7 days
  • Updates: We will keep you informed of our progress
  • Resolution: We will work to resolve the issue as quickly as possible
  • Credit: With your permission, we will credit you in our security advisories

Security Best Practices

When reporting vulnerabilities, please follow responsible disclosure practices:

  • Give us reasonable time to fix the issue before public disclosure
  • Do not access or modify data that does not belong to you
  • Do not perform any actions that could harm our users or services
  • Do not violate any laws or breach any agreements

Security Measures

MusIQ implements the following security measures:

Authentication & Authorization

  • JWT-based authentication with access and refresh tokens
  • Role-based access control (RBAC)
  • Secure password hashing with bcrypt
  • OAuth integration with Apple, Google, and Spotify
  • Session management with Redis

Data Protection

  • TLS/SSL encryption for all network communications
  • Database encryption at rest
  • Secure storage of sensitive credentials
  • Input validation and sanitization
  • SQL injection prevention via parameterized queries

API Security

  • Rate limiting to prevent abuse
  • CORS configuration
  • Security headers (HSTS, CSP, X-Frame-Options)
  • Request validation with Zod
  • Audit logging for security events

Infrastructure

  • Regular security updates and patches
  • Secure configuration management
  • Environment variable protection
  • Azure Key Vault for secrets management
  • Network security groups and firewall rules

Known Security Considerations

Third-Party Dependencies

We regularly update dependencies to address security vulnerabilities. If you discover a vulnerability in a dependency we use, please report it following the process above.

Data Privacy

MusIQ handles user data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not share user data with third parties without consent, except as required by law.

Security Updates

Security updates will be released as patches to the current version. Critical security vulnerabilities will be addressed as quickly as possible, typically within 7 days of confirmation.
