Code Won't Upload to Arduino Leonardo

I have a Windows 8 computer and an Arduino Leonardo. I set the board type to "Arduino Leonardo" and the serial port to the correct port, COM4. Yet I wasn't able to upload the basic blinking LED sketch to the board. Please help.

Some user reported that com port change on board reset. From the control
panel select the com or the driver, I can't remember, and set preferred
port name. That way Leonardo will try to use only the same com on reset.
Before doing that be sure your com name change when you click upload.
Otherwise you should add what happen and where.

Here's the error message that I received. I tried uploading the basic blink
sketch to my Arduino Leonardo, and the RX LED blinked occasionally. The
Arduino reset several times, and the RX LED blinked some more. After a
minute or so, I saw this message in the IDE.

Found Programmer: Id = "BÏH"; type =
Software Version = . ; Hardware Version = .
avrdude: error: buffered memory access not supported. Maybe it isn't a
butterfly/AVR109 but a AVR910 device?

If this comes in handy, I am using a Lenovo X230 Tablet with Windows 8 (64
bit) and Arduino 1.0.3. I use an Arduino Leonardo on serial port COM12. The
programmer in the tools menu is AVR ISP.

It seems like your Leonardo is not in bootloader mode and is unable to receive the next sketch. Can you paste or send me by email the last sketch you've successfully uploaded?

I don't remember which sketch I uploaded successfully. Now, I can't upload
anything to my Arduino. I tried uploading the basic blink sketch to Arduino
today, and the board's RX LED only flashed three times before resetting.
That repeated a few times before Arduino 1.0.3 displayed an error message,
which was the same as the one in my previous email.

this also happens to me with really any sketch, and it seems random. sometimes a sketch will upload, other times it will not. how I got it to work was uploading a basic blink sketch, then uploading the regular sketch, not sure if they had anything to do with getting it to work or not. Only big difference in the sketches I saw was that serial was initiated in second sketch that didn't work initially, and one that worked had no serial.

Same thing happens to me. Seem like that programming process takes more energy than the USB can deliver and resets the board and it gets another port number. Sometimes the reset don't happen.
I plugged in my power adapter to the power input on the board and the problem never happens again.
I quess that solves it for me.
