v0.8.5
Use it
Download eebox-0.8.5.zip, unpack it and open index.html (it works from file://), or use https://ashevchuk.github.io/eebox/.
Fixed
- Making a module of a fixed width narrower in the module designer no longer leaves terminals at positions that do not exist, which listed validation errors and kept Save disabled. The layout of the terminals is scaled to the new width. The width in millimetres takes the same path as the width in units.
Limits
- The scaling is proportional, so a terminal that stood near the far edge moves in proportion, not to the edge. A module that must keep terminals at exact units has to be set by hand.
v0.8.4
Use it
Download eebox-0.8.4.zip, unpack it and open index.html (it works from file://), or use https://ashevchuk.github.io/eebox/.
New
- Bundled library, version 17. Surge protectors of type 1 (spark gap), 1+2 (combined), 2 (varistor) and 3, in 1P, 1P+N, 3P and 3P+N where they exist, and type 2 and type 1+2 for DC from PV strings; each has its lines on top and one earth terminal below, so nothing passes through it. Fuse disconnectors for 10x38, 14x51 and 22x58 mm links in one to four poles (a new kind,
fuse, which can be open and whose rating protects the cable behind it). Feed-through terminals of 2.5 to 16 mm2 for L, N, PE and control, terminal strips of 6 and 12 ways, distribution blocks, RCBOs with three phases and a neutral, and contactors of one to four poles. Widths and heights are typical, not a maker's. - Module fields for surge protectors (
spdType, the impulse, nominal and maximum discharge currents, the protection level, the continuous voltage) and for fuses (fuseClass, fuseSize), in the format, the schema, the library editor, the inspector and the palette search. The bundled devices carry the type, class and size; the ratings are for the owner of a library to enter. - Check warns about a surge protector whose lines are connected and whose earth terminal is not, and about a type 1 or 1+2 protector fed from the output of an RCD. The cable advice calls a fuse a fuse.
- Place in the module designer can be switched off by clicking it again: a click on the drawing then only selects a terminal and a drag moves it.
Fixed
- Delete in the module designer no longer removes the module on the rail behind the dialog, and removes the chosen face shape.
- Marks on the bundled faces no longer lie on the terminals.
- Removing terminals in the designer, or replacing them with a block, no longer leaves a contactor or relay with logic that names terminals that are gone; the logic is taken off with a message and Undo brings it back.
Limits
- RCD types (A, AC, B) are not modelled yet.
- The ratings of the bundled surge protectors are empty on purpose.
- Projects keep the module definitions they were made with; the new terminals of the surge protectors reach an old project through Update modules from libraries.
v0.8.3
Use it
Download eebox-0.8.3.zip, unpack it and open index.html (it works from file://), or use https://ashevchuk.github.io/eebox/.
Fixed
- Delete in the module designer no longer removes the module that is selected on the rail behind the dialog. The global Delete and Backspace now ignore an open dialog, and the designer hears the key even after a click on its face list has moved the focus out of the dialog, so Delete removes the chosen face shape.
- Marks on the bundled faces no longer lie on the terminals: the contactor stroke, the status LED of the relays, the DC symbol of the power supplies, the surge protector zigzag and the DIN socket keep 0.8 mm clear of every terminal at every width. Bundled library version 12.
- Removing terminals in the designer (or replacing them with a block) no longer leaves a contactor or relay with logic that names terminals which are gone, which made Save impossible. The logic is taken off with a message, and Undo brings it back.
New
- Place in the module designer can be switched off by clicking it again; a click on the drawing then only selects a terminal and a drag moves it.
Limits
- A module that loses its logic this way has to get it back with Undo; the designer does not rewrite the logic for the new terminals.
v0.8.2
Use it
Download eebox-0.8.2.zip, unpack it and open index.html (it works from file://), or use https://ashevchuk.github.io/eebox/.
New
- Clear all data (File > Projects, red button): deletes everything the application keeps in the browser (the project on the screen, stored projects and earlier states, libraries, snippets, settings) after two questions, then reloads. Back up first.
- Pulling a wire no longer moves other wires. Two causes are fixed: a press on the grip of a chosen wire picks that wire when several lie on top of each other, and the other automatic wires are held where they are drawn when one wire gets a hand-drawn route. A stored route may now be drawn as near a terminal as the router keeps its lanes (8 mm), so wires the router routed close to a terminal can be held too.
- The logo tooltip and the help dialog show the version and the commit of the build.
Limits
- Pulling a wire gives the other wires hand-drawn routes of their own; Route automatically on them frees them again.
- Clear all data refuses, and says so, when a database is still open in another tab.
eebox 0.8.1
Combs that reach the bottom terminals.
Use it
- Online: https://ashevchuk.github.io/eebox/
- Offline: unpack
eebox-0.8.1.zipand openindex.html; no server is needed.
New since 0.8.0
- Four bottom combs in the bundled library, one for each top comb: 3-phase, 3-phase + N, 1-phase and L+N, 12 units wide and resizable. They are drawn along the bottom edge of the modules and feed their bottom terminals. The library is version 11; the four top combs are unchanged, so projects that use them still open.
- The README explains that the pattern of a comb repeats once per unit, so the comb to choose is the one whose period is the width of the modules under it (3-phase for 3-pole modules of 3 units, 3-phase + N for 4-pole modules of 4); a comb of the wrong period joins different phases and Check reports it.
Limits
- A comb has to be dragged from the library onto the rail by hand; there is no command that puts one under a selection.
- A bottom comb that feeds nothing is not an error, but Check advises that the inputs of the modules under it are not fed.
- Touch was tried in an emulated touch screen of Chromium, not on a phone with Safari or Android.
- Wire lengths are estimates from where terminals stand on the panel; the conductor diameters for the duct fill and its 50 % limit are typical values and are not verified.
- The cable ampacity table was compared with IEC 60364-5-52:2009 (copper, PVC, methods B1, B2, C and E, 1.5 to 35 mm2). Resistivity, reactance, voltage drop limits and trip multiples are not verified; the checks are advice, not a design verification.
- This is a planning layout, not a manufacturing drawing.
- File and library formats may still change without migration.
eebox 0.8.0
A toolbar that fits narrow windows, touch use, and fresh screenshots.
Use it
- Online: https://ashevchuk.github.io/eebox/
- Offline: unpack
eebox-0.8.0.zipand openindex.html; no server is needed.
New since 0.7.1
- The toolbar stays on one row: when the window is too narrow, the buttons that are used least (Ruler, Duct, Note, Find, Zoom to selection, Fit, Delete, and at the narrowest Check, Redo, the drawers and Undo) go into a More menu and come back when the window is wide enough. In English it fits on one row down to about 600 px, in Ukrainian too.
- A finger held still on the drawing opens the context menu, as a right click does. The browser does not send that event for a long press in every case (Safari does not for a canvas), so the application times the press itself: 500 ms, and it is given up when the finger moves.
- On a touch screen the buttons are taller, and the menus are taller to tap.
- A drop-down list that started at its button no longer runs off the edge of a narrow window.
- The screenshots in the README that showed an older toolbar are retaken, and the text about small windows and touch is updated.
Tests
- Browser tests of the toolbar at several widths and of the touch gestures (a tap, a finger held, a module dragged along a rail, the empty drawing panned, a module dragged from the library drawer), run with a touch screen emulated.
Limits
- Touch was tried in an emulated touch screen of Chromium, not on a phone with Safari or Android.
- Below about 480 px (a phone held upright) the toolbar is on two rows: the menus and the mode buttons cannot go into More.
- This is a planning layout, not a manufacturing drawing.

eebox 0.7.1
Every file the application writes now says which release wrote it.
Use it
- Online: https://ashevchuk.github.io/eebox/
- Offline: unpack
eebox-0.7.1.zipand openindex.html; no server is needed.
New since 0.7.0
- Project files, backups and exported libraries carry
generator, such aseebox 0.7.1. It is optional when a file is read, so files from earlier releases still open, and a value that does not read likeeebox 1.2.3is refused. - When a file is refused, the message adds a line saying which release wrote it, or that the file does not say, so a mistake in a file can be told from a file of another release.
- The same project or snippet written by two releases is one project or snippet: the mark is left out when files are compared, in the list of projects, in the import of snippets and in the check before a state is kept.
docs/file-format.mdsays what the version of a format is for, when to raise it, and lists the versions. The versions themselves are still 1; they are raised from now on, with a migration once there are files of an older version to turn into the newer.
Limits
- Files written by a release before 0.7.0 may be refused for what they hold, not for their version number: the formats changed between releases without a new number, and those files carry no mark to say so.
- A long press on a touch screen should open the context menu, as the browser sends the same event; it has not been tried on a device.
Resistivity, reactance, voltage drop limits and trip multiples are not verified; the checks are advice, not a design verification.

eebox 0.7.0
Terminal labels can be read back from a CSV, the distance lines can be switched off, and the README has new screenshots.
Use it
- Online: https://ashevchuk.github.io/eebox/
- Offline: unpack
eebox-0.7.0.zipand openindex.html; no server is needed.
New since 0.6.3
- File > Import terminal labels (CSV)… reads a table of
Device,TerminalandLabeland sets the label of that terminal on every module that has that label or name. The columns are found by name in any order and the others are ignored; a blank label takes the label away; a row that does not fit is skipped with the reason and the rest are applied. It is one step of Undo. - Export > Inputs and outputs (CSV), the table and the print sheet now have a
Terminalcolumn (the name, or the id such astop:DI1when a module has the same name on both sides) and aLabelcolumn, in place of the singleChannelcolumn. Fill in the Label column and read the file back. - View > Distances to the neighbours switches off the lines that show the distance from the selected thing to its neighbours; the choice is kept in the browser and in the backup.
Changes
- The format of the inputs and outputs list changed as described above; there is no migration of files written by 0.5.0 and 0.6.x.
- A browser test now covers aligning, the grid, the distance lines, wire numbers, the lists, the label import and the duct fill.
- New screenshots in the README, including the plate alignment and the context menu.
Limits
- A long press on a touch screen should open the context menu, as the browser sends the same event; it has not been tried on a device.
- File and library formats may still change without migration.
eebox 0.6.3
Two fixes: the Close button of the list that Check opens, and the frame of a selected cable duct.
Use it
- Online: https://ashevchuk.github.io/eebox/
- Offline: unpack
eebox-0.6.3.zipand openindex.html; no server is needed.
Fixes
- The Close button of the list that Check opens did nothing on the schematic: the list was drawn again at every change, which replaced the button between the press and the release, and the click was lost. The list is now drawn again only when what it shows changes, which also keeps its scroll place while it is open.
- The frame and the Check marks of a cable duct were hidden behind a module standing on it; they are now drawn after the modules, as the frames of modules already were.
Limits
- A long press on a touch screen should open the context menu, as the browser sends the same event; it has not been tried on a device.
- File and library formats may still change without migration.
eebox 0.6.2
A fix for the frame of a selected module.
Use it
- Online: https://ashevchuk.github.io/eebox/
- Offline: unpack
eebox-0.6.2.zipand openindex.html; no server is needed.
Fixes
- The frame of a selected module and the red and amber marks of Check were hidden behind a module that stands against it and is drawn later. They are now drawn after every module, so they show whole.
Limits
- The frame of a selected cable duct is still drawn before the modules; a module that stands on a duct, which Check reports as an error, can cover it.
- A long press on a touch screen should open the context menu, as the browser sends the same event; it has not been tried on a device.
