Unable to authenticate with github

When logging in and prompted for password, it shows a github domain. (not my email address)

When trying to authorize the application in the github tab, after adding the token it shows an unknown error:

Confirming I am seeing this behavior as well. Atom 1.18.0 on Ubuntu 16.04 via .deb package. My .git/config looks like follows (note this is a private repo in an organization, so I've replaced the org and repo names)

	repositoryformatversion = 0
	filemode = true
	bare = false
	logallrefupdates = true
[remote "origin"]
	url = git@github.com:ORGNAME/REPONAME.git
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
[branch "master"]
	remote = origin
	merge = refs/heads/master

I also feel like it would be "better" to use personal access tokens instead, allowing the user more control over access scopes.

Solved:
I had this issue and then when looking at the Web Dev Tools, I found that the path for my origin was ending with a / ... see git remote -v, but the github package couldn't resolve the path. Once I changed the remote origin url to have .git (eg http://github.com/{username}/{repo}.git) and rebooted Atom, the error was gone.

To fix, just update your remote with git remote set-url origin http://github.com/{your_username}/{your_repo}.git and reboot Atom.
