Applying code suggestions in chat

Hi, I'm trying out Augment and want to apply code changes provided to me during chat when Augment suggests code changes, like so:

````lang path=path/to/file mode=EDIT
...some new code
````

Note: Sometimes I saw them in a markdown format, sometimes in XML format.

It looks like you still need to apply these manually. Am I missing something or is this still being implemented?

Hi @yannvanhalewyn, in the current version of the plugin codeblocks must be applied manually. We hope to include this feature in a future release as it's been commonly requested, but it's not being actively worked on at the present time.

As you note there's also some inconsistencies with how we generate the codeblocks. This is due to inconsistent model outputs and we don't yet have any logic to parse and normalize the results. That's also something we want to work on, but not the number one priority for now.

Hi @mtpauly thanks for the reply. Understandable. Applying code changes would be something I would use on the daily - so for me as an exclusive Neovim user it's a missing key feature.

Aside applying code suggestions I would also wish for being able to continue the conversation in the chat window. A prompt is less suitable for longer multi-line questions with more context and / or code snippets so I have been copy pasting questions from time to time.

And yes overall I'm very impressed with the performance and quality of Augment! In the large Clojure codebase I'm working in it has been very accurately responding to my non-trivial questions. Sometimes it combined 'knowledge' of libraries with other references in the codebase which has been great for reviews. I also enjoy the simplicity of the UI interface and API (:Augment chat). The performance is just mind blowing honestly, feels like magic. Great job to everyone involved.

It would be helpful to mention this limitation on the README as anyone will assume it would modify code on request.

This issue shouldn't be closed as completed, it isn't completed yet or even started. I came around looking to file a new issue on the topic only to have momentary false hope ;-)

Agreed. We should keep these open and pin the issues in "commonly addressed issues" type of thread.
Even the Augment team will have to repeat themselves over and over.

I had closed this since my question was answered and @mtpauly mentioned it is not actively being worked on. As it is about a common feature it may make sense to re-open this, but I'll leave further state changes up to the Augment team.
