Planning a trip often means juggling details across group chats, notes apps, and photo libraries. These tools can each handle one part of the process, but they make it difficult to keep plans and memories connected in one place. I built Ember to bring trip organization, shared photos, and personal notes together so friends, families, or even the solo-trip taker can coordinate their adventure and revisit their favorite moments with ease.

The dashboard brings every trip you make or are a part of into one place. From here, you can create a trip, revisit an upcoming adventure, or open a past trip to look back on its memories.
Create a dedicated space for each adventure with its name, location, description, dates, and banner image. Trip owners can keep these details up to date and remove a trip when it is no longer needed.
Ember is designed for solo adventures and shared trips. Members can access the trips they belong to, while owners can manage the group and remove members when necessary. Members can also choose to leave a trip themselves.
Every trip member can contribute photos to a shared gallery. Ember uses optimized thumbnails to keep the gallery quick to browse and displays the larger image when a photo is opened. Uploaders can delete their own photos, while trip owners can moderate any photo in the trip.
Create private notes connected to a trip without sharing them with the group. Use them for packing reminders, favorite locations, lessons learned, or any detail you want to remember. Notes can only be viewed, edited, or deleted by their author while they are a current member of the trip.
Upload a profile image and give each trip a unique banner. Ember prepares images for consistent display across the interface while the backend handles validation, optimization, and secure storage.
The Ember frontend is currently in its infant stage, so its final framework, environment variables, and development commands are still to be determined. Once development begins and has gotten to a reasonable spot, this section will provide a complete path for running the interface locally, including:
- Dependency installation
- Local env configuration
- Connection to the Ember backend API
- Development and production build commands
- Linting, formatting, and test commands
Local frontend development will also require the Ember backend to be running and its API URL to be configured in the frontend environment.
