This is some really cool stuff! I can imagine why youd want a proper tracker screen though. What makes you think the E2 is a good candidate? Its display isn't that big (128x64) |

There's no emulation support (yet) in Freetribe, but you'd do well to know that there's a BF523 DSP and AM1802 CPU, so you'll need to decide on how you are going to implement sound playback across the barrier of the CPU and DSP. The E2 loads samples into DSP RAM and then uses a command interface for playback.
yes it can, Freetribe uses FatFS, which implements a unix-style file interface. There's also the 16 MiB flash, I'm currently almost done writing the Freetribe bootloader which can boot binaries from SDcard. A basic GDBstub implementation over USB is also working and will be PRed, so theoretically you could start working without a debugger soldered in. |

One of the issues to me is that the source code is AGPL-licensed. At the moment my DSP code is closed-source; I might want to open source at some moment, this is not what I prefer now. It is unclear if an exception is possible, but it feels like the IPC is not enough to prevent linking and therefore being affected by the license. While the main application, that reads/prepares the file maybe is not an issue, the same would apply. If this is MIT-licensed or so, it would be much nicer. |

I have an embedded tracker engine that plays .mod and .med files, and I have started working on adding a "blind" editing mode, as the Korg Drumlogue has no front panel access for the Logue SDK. It wa always my goal to relate a groovebox using the code and already got far: https://youtu.be/lS_RMaHqx4k
While it works, it is not ideal for editing, so after a bit I finally decided to get an E2 and use Freetribe to create a working setup. However, the device will arrive in the Netherlands and I will not be there for another 3 months, so is there a way to start testing this somehow? I would ideally like a device like emulator. I know the player routine works, ao what can I do to develop this? Can it load files from SD?
Note: currently do not resident in the NL. Bought th device on Marktplaats, and shipped to family. In my Geo it was a lot more expensive, shipped from Japan.
